A combination of economic growth, expanding market places and increased social mobility has placed an increasing strain on our road network. Congestion has spread from a few major cities and routes across a greater proportion of the network. Whilst the current economic climate is volatile the upward trend will surely continue.
Environmental impacts of road travel continue to increase though positive developments in road and vehicle engineering and initiatives to maximise patronage on sustainable transport modes.
PA has worked closely with central government and delivery agencies in addressing the challenges of road transport from policy conception through to programme deployment and operational improvement. For the Department for Transport, Transport for London, and other highway agencies we have:

Developed real insight into the exploitation of new management and operational arrangements, intelligent information systems, and monitoring and identification technologies to manage traffic flows and improve road safety

Led the development of road charging programmes where we have been central to the development of appropriate business and commercial models, technologies and systems and deploying live services for both personal and heavy goods vehicles

Developed deep expertise in compliance and enforcement of driver & vehicle regulations - helping remove uninsured drivers from our roads, and ensuring that trucks are loaded properly and drivers not spending too long at the wheel

Worked with some of the most innovative new projects to improve journey planning and the provision of information to road users, both in advance of their journey and en-route in real-time.
