PA transformed Carnival UK’s supply chain to deliver annual savings of £2.5 million

Carnival UK wanted a supply chain that would deliver better service and more value for two of its leading brands, Cunard Line and P&O Cruises. The company asked PA to help develop an end-to-end supply chain process that would achieve these objectives. Our review of existing processes found that, as the company had grown, the supply chain had not kept pace, resulting in a complex range of products, high levels of inventory and long lead times. As a result of the diagnostic phase, we recognised that there was an opportunity to deliver significant cost savings.

Our supply chain experts designed a new end-to-end process, reaching from initial demand to financial reporting. Our work included introducing product specifications, managing product lifecycle and analysing net cost value. The new supply chain process improved order management, introduced category management and increased financial control both at headquarters and on board Carnival UK ’s 10 ships. PA’s work reduced the number of Stock Keeping Units by over 40%. By rationalising the supply base and improving the contracting process we helped Carnival UK realise savings of over £2.5 million a year.
