As part of the Department of Health’s Modernising Medical Careers (MMC) programme, trainee doctors were going to be recruited using a new national IT system known as the Medical Trainee Application System (MTAS).
However, with just four months until trainee doctors were due in their posts, the MTAS programme suffered a series of critical setbacks, resulting in the recruitment delivery responsibility shifting to local teams without the national IT system, programme management, analytics and IT system development.
PA supported London Deanery to deliver a new IT system, providing project management, business analysis and much-needed expertise to ensure that the project was completed on time. Using the PA-developed IT toolkit, our team delivered the first release of a new recruitment system in just seven days. Within a four month period PA supported the Deanery to manage 23,000 applications, 13,000 interviews and recruit over 3500 trainee doctors.
