We identify the success factors of five countries' different welfare delivery models

We are proud to have contributions from both Lizzie Iron, Head of Welfare Policy at Citizens Advice, who provides a critique of one aspect of the UK’s current welfare policy – the flexible new deal and André Sapir, Senior Fellow at Bruegel who looks at the different European Social Model and what they mean for the welfare approach of those countries. All these articles raise interesting questions for welfare policy including universal versus targeted support, urban versus rural challenges, stick versus carrot and of course, an examination of some of the delivery models in operation – we hope this edition stimulates debate and interest in your local communities.
